New Military Leave Policy Announced

Have you ever wondered about the company's policy for employees who get called for military duty by the Guard or Reserve?

At BNSF, several hundred employees are members of the Guard and Reserve, and they often are called up for active duty.

BNSF recently increased the policy's visibility by creating a separate Military Leave Policy; it had previously been part of the overall Company Leave Policy.

The policy language is basically the same but now provides more information about:

• contacts
• necessary forms
• steps to take when activated

The policy also describes make-whole pay elements and types of service that are eligible for make-whole pay.

BNSF has been recognized for its military-friendly policies this year as a Most Valuable Employer in May and with the Prominence Award from the Texas ESGR (Employer Support of Guard and Reserve) in March.
